It is official, Lovie Smith and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have reached an agreement and their former linebackers coach will be returning as the head coach in the upcoming season. ESPN reported of the deal between Lovie Smith and the Bucs on January 2.

The Tampa Bay Bucs replacement of Greg Sciano was a no-brainer as Lovie Smith became a favorite to return to the team right away. He was signed to a 4-year coaching deal with the option of a fifth year.

Smith was a long-time head coach for the Chicago Bears, having spent 2004-2012 with the team. He did not coach any team in 2013 and many Bears fans were disappointed that he was not brought back for the upcoming season.

Lovie Smith hiring rumors include some big names in terms of who will fill the 2014 Buccaneers coaching roster. Many speculate that Smith will try to bring in former Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier among others. Also, don't be surprised if Tampa Bay gets real interested in Bears backup quarterback Josh McCown.
