Hughes, Sali (21 April 2020). "Our rainbow queen! Why Queen Elizabeth II is the undisputed British style icon". Glamour . Retrieved 7 October 2020.

a b Liberman, Berry (1 May 2015). "Sali Hughes is pretty honest". Dumbo Feather . Retrieved 6 October 2020. I’m a foundation nut and try every single one that comes through my letterbox. I like a dewy rather than matte coverage, and it has to feel comfortable on the skin. Most days I use the NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser in ‘Groenland’, M·A·C Face & Body Foundation in C2 or Dior Forever Natural Nude Foundation in 2.5N. If I’m going out or hosting an event and want to ramp up the coverage, I’ll use the Suqqu Liquid Foundation or Estée Lauder Futurist Hydra Rescue. I find powder is so underrated – it’s all about using it only where you need it and allowing the cheeks to glow through. The best powder is M·A·C Skinfinish Natural. I use the shade ‘Light Plus’.” I do walk a lot, and that's important for my head and my body, but I'm not an exerciser and I’m not very engaged with wellness! Really my sense of wellbeing comes from my emotional relationships. It increases massively when I spend time with the people I love. I haven't read a book like this before and i don't think i will ever need to read another. Sali covers a wide range of categories, this is everything you need to know to get through life from Sali's experiences. Although it sometimes felt a bit jumbled, the advice is split in to helpful categories and the index helps too.

I thought the extract in the Guardian was pretty risible - just a stream of consciousness about random things, most of which are pretty blooming obvious.

Affordable and also accessible, democratic beauty is really important to me. Some years ago I was at a homeless shelter in Cardiff making a documentary and, while waiting for the camera crew to set up, I saw two cardboard boxes full of toiletries. The woman at reception explained that they were for clients who might have a housing meeting or job interview and need to look presentable. I took a photo of the boxes, sent the picture to my friend [Beauty Banks co-founder] Jo Jones and said "this is crazy - we know loads of people with tonnes of product. And here are people who need product. Can't we bring the two things together?" And she said "yes, definitely". The Friends and Relationships chapter was interesting because if you follow Sali you might know bits of her personal life so I'm sure some of the advice is based on personal experience. If you do [Botox] safely with a reputable practitioner, and you do your due diligence, why not?” the journalist and author told podcast host Róisín Ingle. “The idea that it’s some sort of terrible failing and letting the side down is just absolutely absurd.”

Evans, Pippa (17 October 2014). "When Biscuit Met Sali". Standard Issue . Retrieved 6 October 2020. Hughes, Sali (2 October 2014). "Nine Truths Every 20-Something Needs To Know About Beauty". Grazia. I grew up with my father and brothers and was the only girl in the house, so appearance wasn’t discussed; it just wasn't a thing and I'm grateful for that. I also never heard either of my parents talk negatively or otherwise about how they looked, which I think gives you a good grounding because then beauty becomes a fun, life-enhancing thing and not a battle you're trying to win.Reliable, reassuring, wise and kind. It’s all the good advice you'll ever need' Sophie Ellis-Bextor Hughes will be in conversation with journalist and bestselling author of the " witty and wise" More Than a Woman, Caitlin Moran. The two will be joining us at Islington Assembly Hall in London or via livestream, to talk about Hughes’s new book – and explore the nitty gritty of everyday life. alustuseks, käisin raamatuesitlusel ja tean nüüd autori elust, sõpradest ja sellest, miks ta niisuguse raamatu kirjutas, tükk maad rohkem, kui raamatusse kirja on saanud. eelkõige kõnetas mind see seletus, et kuna ta on oma sõpruskonnas lihtsalt see inimene, kes alati kõike praktilist teab/oskab ja kõigi olmeprobleemid ära lahendab, siis miks mitte kogu see tarkus kirja panna. This book opens with Home tips, but you can get these elsewhere from experts online, or perhaps you have copies of Laura de Barra's books already.

Discussing her new book Everything is Washable - a smart bible for modern living - she says she has Botox regularly and has no qualms about the treatment. For me, the number one priority with any mascara is anti-smudging. My all-time favourites are tubing mascaras (which use polymers instead of the traditional and more smudgy waxes and dyes) – either Estée Lauder Double Wear or Clinique Lash Power, because they just don’t budge. For a waterproof mascara, I will always choose the Bobbi Brown No Smudge Mascara.”
