News broke that NFL franchises might be interested in Penn State's Bill O'Brien when the NFL Network reported on its Sunday pre-game show that Houston and Minnesota had expressed interest in the head coach, since coming to Penn State .

A couple of days later, PennLive's David Jones looked at which NFL jobs O'Brien would like. The New York Giants and Detroit Lions were on the list, along with the Texans:

Houston Texans: On balance, this is the job to be most scared about. The Texans were picked in August by several NFL analysts to make the Super Bowl. The talent is there good O-line, good backs, a really good defense except for the quarterback spot. It s been a total disaster from Matt Schaub on down. Hmm, how about a quarterback guru for the head coach?

The organization has already dumped Gary Kubiak so the job s open and it s a great one in many respects. Bob McNair is a well-respected owner who doesn t meddle. He s patient, supportive of coaches and not afraid to spend money for players and resources. Given the acquisition of the right QB and head coach, this team could enjoy the same 1-year improvement as Andy Reid at Kansas City. Anxiety factor: 8.
