When we review air-fryers, each model goes through several tests: making chips, roasting chicken, grilling halloumi and aubergine, and – where possible – baking cake, to test all functions. We did achieve attractive grill marks when cooking halloumi, however, and our chips were perfectly sealed and crunchy. The Cosori Smart Air Fryer is easy to use, heats up much faster than an oven, crisps fresh and frozen foods with little to no added oil, and is easy to clean. However, the control interface is intuitive, the troubleshooting advice is clear and it comes with a recipe booklet packed with tasty inspiration for each setting.

It’s a bulky bit of kit, but we found it easy to use and appreciated the included cooking charts that detail how to use the machine to prepare different foods. We set a small chicken in one drawer and raw chipped potatoes in another to cook thanks to practical depth and only needed to shake the chips midway, leaving you free to continue with other cooking tasks.Luckily, this didn’t impact the finished dishes too much – our chicken was juicy and our chips were the perfect texture inside, if a little unevenly browned. You’ll even see some that come with two cooking compartments so you can create two dishes at two different temperatures at the same time.

It also baked light and fluffy cupcakes that rose to an impressive 40cm with a baking time of 20 minutes.
