Drama has always been part of the appeal of “dancing with the Stars” but it usually isn’t a big part. Recently, allegations of diva-like behavior and tensions on set caused by new show cohost Erin Andrews began to emerge. Andrews addressed those issues, according to an April 7 report on Huffington Post.
With only 4 weeks under her belt, Andrews says the job of replacing long-time favorite cohost Brooke Burke Charvet hasn’t been an easy one. The controversy created when online media started reporting that sources close to the show alleged Andrews was difficult to work with and might get the axe was hard for her handle.
"I've got to be honest ... It kind of got me worried and scared," Andrews said in an interview. She admitted to calling the producer to find out if there was any truth to the rumor her job might be on the chopping block. "I just went back and forth with the producers like, 'Are we good here? Please tell me what I need to work on. Please tell me what I need to do. 'And they're like, 'We couldn't be happier.'"
The rumor mongering couldn’t have happened at a more inopportune time. Andrews has been struggling with finding her way on the show, feeling like the new kid on the block.
"After the first show, I was kind of down on myself because I felt like maybe I was a little aggressive," Andrews said, "I'm my toughest critic, and I'm really never happy, unfortunately, with what I do."
In the past, Andrews worked as a Fox sports reporter. She was also a former contestant on the show which many thought would give her an edge with her new duties. Gossip aside, she says she loves the new gig.
"Doing that show as a dancer was one of the best times in my life," Andrews said. "It's good to be back home."
