About this deal

My guess is that the story arc will involve him assuming he's among similar small-c types who just think that "Things have gone a bit far", but he'll soon find himself sharing screen time with proper horrible bastards. Authored by Steve Coogan, Rob Gibbons, and Neil Gibbons, this book showcases Partridge’s unwavering self-belief amidst a perpetually faltering existence. Between Big Beacon and two seasons of the From The Oasthouse podcast, Steve Coogan has been writing and recording a ton of Alan Partridge material and I honestly think it’s some of the best work we’ve gotten from the character.

In the middle of a belligerent television discussion on BBC One’s This Time, he had gone off-script, leaving his producer apoplectic. DAVID BADDIEL'The funniest series of books ever written in the English language' RICHARD OSMAN'With a genuine belly laugh to be found on almost every page, it only cements Partridge's status as the world's greatest comedy character' EMPIRE'Partridge. Alan Partridge is one of Britain's favourite and most decorated unemployed broadcasters - although he does have a podcast. But it sounds like the result of this was the cast spending time learning their lines, only to come in each day and be handed scenes that were heavily rewritten. There'd been years of chat about a possible Partridge film, mad that they would end up rushing into it without a proper idea of what they were doing.

In Big Beacon, Norwich’s favourite son and best broadcaster, Alan Partridge, triumphs against the odds. With the newer stuff it feels like he's an old fuddyduddy who is stuck in his ways but is also trying to change with the times.

What could have been a tedious stretch, snowed in at a summerhouse by myself over Christmas, became instead, a rollicking goodtime—like being snowed in at a summerhouse over Christmas with a famous person who only speaks to you in the same 8 hours of prepared material, repeated again and again, and-dare I say? But then, all there's only a period of silence before Alan himself starts reading his co-written version of The Ryme of the Ancient Mariner. In 'Big Beacon', Norwich's favourite son and best broadcaster, Alan Partridge, triumphs against the odds. The lighthouse stuff was fine, but it didn't add up to much in the end, which is fine for a half hour podcast episode, but it was stretched pretty thin over about 3.

Published by esteemed platforms like Dream Noir, Streetcake Magazine, and Ghost City Press, Alan's work showcases his talent for evocative prose and poetry. But on the page – and in scripts for all his output since 2013’s Mid Morning Matters – it’s the comedy writing team of Neil and Rob Gibbons who’ve been responsible for the bulk of the material produced.
