About this deal

This elegant Honeywell HY254E tower fan has five cooling settings, from whisper quiet up to turbo performance. I can't find a size specification anywhere on the box or instructions but it stands at least 1 metre tall. My first reason was because it's a tower fan, and I wanted something that could cool more than one single concentrated location on my body while working at a desk. The packaging may be subject to some minor superficial damage or may not have its original packaging.

The remote control is a good thing too, but I sleep about a foot away from it, so I can switch it on/off manually. But the pillar fan has no visible rotor blades, and they are usually also slightly quieter than floor fans. This fan is everything the description portrays it to be and its slim shape is easily accommodated any where in the room.

Quiet is one of the important features in a fan as many people want to be cool while they are trying to go to sleep. Digital display (displays room temperature in Fahrenheit), remote control, oscillation and space-saving design make a premium fan for the summer. Above all the Honeywell HY254E QuietSet Tower Fan has eight levels of quiet control for continuous comfort, including a sleep setting and also a white noise setting which can be used as an aid to get to sleep- therefore blocking out distracting inconsistent sounds. It's alright, but it's a bit wobbly, and a bit rattly, and if the weather is going to be like this we're going to need more than one fan.

It is very quiet when used on it's lowest setting (sleep mode) and it has never disturbed me in the night with annoying creaks or whirring noises - something which a lot of cheap fans often do.

They're rather squidgy, making you press rather hard to activate them, often feeling like they should've been pressed, when they have not. The base may or may not be fiddlely to set up but the overall working of this fan is more than enough and I appreciate all it's features. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. It makes small sacrifices in terms of raw power, but the reduced volume makes it well worth the extra cash – especially if you can’t sleep in a hot room and have sensitive ears. The glossy styling on top is a fingerprint magnet, but as the glossy aspect is so small, it's barely noticeable.

There is a small amount of self assembly involved and although it's pretty straight forward when it came to securing the small support from the base to the tower the screw point did not line up and although it appears to be quite steady, I would have preferred to secure it with the screw. However it has an easy to use control panel and a timer that allows the user to program the fan for one, two, four or eight hours of cooling.

Only reviews that feature the label "Verified Review" have been checked to ensure that the author actually used or purchased the product. Unlike other Honeywell fans, night mode doesn’t alternate fan speeds, so light sleepers needn’t worry about changes in volume, either.
