Philips OLED+986 (65-inch): The OLED+986 is an updated version of last year’s OLED+984 model. Key differences include a new 5th-gen P5 Intelligent Dual Picture Engine, which promises better quality colors, sharpness and contrast. Also worth noting is that Philips says the OLED+986 is the “best-sounding TV ever”. Although we’d usually advise you take that bold claim with a pinch of salt, because Bowers & Wilkins is on board, it’s worth paying attention to. The OLED+986 is available now. Features: The second-generation QD-OLED panel allows the A95L to go twice as bright as the A95K it replaces. Sony says that to the QD-OLED panel it’s added its own heat diffusion sheet (also known as a heatsink) and bespoke thermal analysis via the set’s Cognitive Processor XR. Value for money: The 77-inch C2 has always been very good value for a TV of its size and ability, but that's even more the case now that it's a year old and has been significantly discounted. There is a replacement model, the 77-inch C3, but you would have to pay a lot more for that and the upgrades are slight. If you're in the market for a 77-inch OLED TV, we recommend going for a C2 while it's still available and discounted. There are very few TVs that sound good, though, so we almost always recommend adding a soundbar. Follow that advice and the 48-inch C3 is comfortably the best TV at its size.

Google Assistant is available on Philips Android TVs running on Android O (8) or higher OS version. Google Assistant is available in selected languages and countries. I feel like the daylight sensor also turns on on its own sometimes to make the screen dimmer (although this the UI does accurately show this) The 43- to 65-inch models get a T-bar stand for support, with the sizes up to 58-inches getting swivel action. The biggest models in the range switch to feet at either side that can adjusted to narrow or wide configurations. We could spend a good few thousand words next on the myriad picture adjustments provided within Philips convoluted menu system. It really does feel like Philips has given you control over, well, everything. For the sake of everyone’s sanity, though, we’ll limit ourselves to saying that while enthusiasts may embrace and enjoy exploring the huge range of adjustments the 55OLED807 carries, it can all be a bit intimidating to more regular folk.

The 8506 series is Philips’ affordable range of TVs aimed at the mainstream buyer. They’re available in many sizes and carry some of the premium features seen in the TVs above. Alternatively, you might have a specific size of TV in mind and an appetite for the best picture quality available. In that case, you need to prioritise performance and, if desired, next-gen features (more on which below). That being said, the Ambilight+hue is great when you have the whole room kitted out with Hue lights, though you may want to spend some time trial-and-erroring the brightness settings to find a balance between effect and distraction. This time there's a 3.1.2ch Dolby Atmos soundbar strapped onto the stand which makes for a very tidy flagship OLED TV solution indeed. It comes in 48in, 55in and 65in sizes and the satisfaction that each time the soundbar has been tuned to make sure that the audio sounds as if it's coming from the centre of the screen. While flagship sets with discrete speaker systems will sound even better, for a step-down model the A80L sounds very impressive. This should be a strong consideration for anyone with this sort of budget who is determined not to combine their new TV with a dedicated sound system.

The only minor issue our reviewers noticed throughout testing was a very gentle boost to the greens of the fields and hills of Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, streamed in 4K HDR10 via the Apple TV app, which makes the picture 'just a smidge less authentic' than the results we got on the Sony A95K we ran it against.
