Almost just as Pipkins went off air, Nigel had another great break through a similarly odd sort of audition. Tortoise can’t go on keeping money under the settee, he needs somewhere special to put it. Charlie the dustman comes to the rescue with an idea.

Johnny’s sister Bertha comes to the workshop to tidy up but Johnny doesn’t like her because she will talk about him when he was a little boy. Then another visitor arrives…. Hartley has trouble learning the words of a song because of all the noise Pig and Tom are making but when he tries to stop the noise, he interrupts the smooth running of Pipkins.... Topov is supposed to telephone Hartley to tell him where he is when he’s out working, but naughty Topov doesn’t do this… yet, somehow Hartley find’s out…how? Octavia the Ostrich moves her beak, but there is no sound. Mr Pipkin is so worried that he gets Johnny to call the doctor. But the clever Dr Stethoscope knows what the trouble is- Octavia has lost her voice. Pipkins ended when ATV lost its franchise for the Midlands ITV region, was restructured and became Central Independent Television. The programme was replaced by Let's Pretend.Why do children keep throwing paper into the Pipkins yard? Perhaps it’s because they are bored. Anyway, that’s what Charlie thinks, so he get’s Pipkins to help him build something very exciting for all the children….. Hartley and his friends want some photographs of their picnic. But as the pictures must be brilliant, there is only one person who can take them..... Now that Johnny has left, Hartley sets out to fill the vacancy. He erects a notice which leads to Tom arriving. Hartley gives him a thorough audition. Tom passes with honours and agrees to come to Pipkins... Bertha sets out for the workshop to see Johnny but when she arrives Mr Pipkin and Johnny are out. Although she’s a bit cross, she decides to clean up while they are out. Hartley helps out, but finds the vacuum cleaner too loud for his big ears! Hartley decides to visit his uncle in the country-but on the same day, his uncle decides to go and visit Hartley! Hartley meets lots of interesting animals in the country, but will he meet his uncle?

It's the Pipkins day off and they decide to put on a play in the workshop. After they learn their parts, they learn another lesson. Never put on a production with a very hungry pig! Hartley Hare was a puppet character, and he was a hare, a type of animal related to rabbits but larger and with longer legs. Who were the cast members in Pipkins? Everyone wants something that belongs to somebody else. Why is it that other people’s things seem nicer than yours? If the window is open, Hartley can look out, but the rain comes in. When the window is shut, the sun comes in through the glass.... Unfortunately, some episodes of Pipkins have been lost forever due to poor storage, I’ve marked the known, missing episodes next to the titles. Hartley thinks that Tortoise may be ill when he won’t come out of his shell, so he sends for Dr Stethoscope.

Why is Johnny so sad? What can Hartley and the others do to cheer him up? And if they can think of anything, can they keep it a secret? Uncle Hare comes up from the country and discovers a public library: a place where they lend you books-even picture books for Topov who can’t read…Hartley has become too bossy. He won’t even let the others speak for themselves-he always knows best. So Pig and Topov find a way to make him look really silly… It’s not a good day for Hartley, every thing goes wrong. So he decides to run away and live in the country… Topov has a new lookout place but at night it get's a bit lonely, so he decides to sleep indoors like everyone else........... Bertha is worried because Mooney is asleep during the daytime. Nobody tells her that Badgers sleep during the daytime because they like her idea of putting on a concert to keep him awake….

Imagine there was once a pirate near Pipkins who had forgotten where he had buried his treasure............ Today is Mr Pipkin’s Birthday and his birthday tea is being kept a secret. One thing Hartley finds out, however, is that you shouldn’t eat too much jelly. Now that the monkey can move, Mr Pipkin and Johnny think very hard for a name, they even ask Tortoise for help. What can they call the newcomer?..... Pipkins was on the air from January 1973 until 29 December 1981. Although the exact number of episodes is not mentioned, the show had a long and successful run on British television. Is there a trailer available for Pipkins?

Mr Pipkin is making an Ostrich. But Hartley doesn’t like other puppets and interferes by showing pictures of his uncle….. The Pipkins make toys for children in hospital, and Hartley learns to be careful when using glue............ It’s raining outside and the roof leaks, but nobody minds because there are plenty of things one can do with water. Octavia even gets a chance to wear her new hat. Hartley is having problems in his study. His telephone, typewriter, and even his wastepaper basket seem to be making strange noises....
