Like the previous volume it was given a single CD release which featured a selection of tracks available on the full vinyl/cassette release. A Video Selection was also released featuring selected tracks from the main album release, and one which didn't appear on any NOW album. I never got how A-ha, Simply Red and Pretenders managed to be included here given how both group were on labels probably more commonly associated with the “Hits” series. This was a hit again ’cause it had a new remix for its tenth anniversary, though I can’t work out whether it was the original or the remix that was featured on this compilation. Well Now 9 contains ’16 Top 20 hits’; a subtle difference which entails selecting the most of the cream and eschewing the mavericks.

Otherwise I am not sure if I’d describe Simply Red’s The Right Thing as a Balearic classic but the funk is definitely there.fm, compilation album tracks appear under the name of Various Artists erroneously because the individual artist is not listed in the album's ID3 information. On the 2021 CD Now 9 re-issue, "Jack Your Body" has a strange fade out ending, unlike the "clean" ending on the 1987 Double LP. The album was the first in the series to include radio remixes of some tracks, rather than the originals.
