Now I have three very spoilt cats (I’ve just rescued a coffee cup with milk in from my eldest cat, who thinks food tastes better stolen). The whole event was captured and filmed live (by me) and posted on a Holly Hedge live streaming where it racked up more than 130 viewers at one time all watching live this remarkable and sometimes never before seen act of Mother Nature doing what she does best and giving life to this world, when there is so much sadness and uncertainty out there it truly was a spectacle to see.

She worked for five years as a children's fiction editor, before deciding that writing was more fun, and easier to do from a sofa. In every story the poor kitten was having a terrible time – she was lost, stuck in the snow, hungry, being chased by a dog – but it was OK, because I knew that she was actually downstairs, probably curled up on the back of the sofa (or letting my dad feed her cheese and onion crisps, which were her favourite treat). All items are carefully packaged in boxes and thick craft paper so as not to get damaged as they make their way to you.Real animal stories are a fantastic starting point – but I often have to make a lot of changes to make the original story work for a children’s book. Lots of the books are actually based on my own pets – Lost in the Snow, the very first book in the series was inspired by Rosie, the stray kitten who adopted my family a little while before I was born. Lucy loves Sky but, as she’s still upset with her parents for moving, she pretends not to be interested in the kitten. Holly lives in Tilehurst, just outside of Reading, Berkshire, with her husband, three children and several cats.

What happened next showed pure determination from mum and also the experience and knowledge of Lucinda. Read this whole series to my four year old and we both laughed and cried and had to read each book in one sitting! Her first book, The Secret Hen House Theatre, was published in 2012, and its sequel, The Farm Beneath the Water, in 2015.This experience has been fantastic primarily for the children, the school and also for me (professionally).
