About this deal

The series features posters of characters such as Pikachu, Squirtle, Charmander, and Jigglypuff, that show what they look like both from the inside and outside. The biologist and illustrator is working on volume two of his guide to Pokémon anatomy, also known as PokéNatomy. Pokenatomy” combines education with entertainment, making it an engaging read for both young and adult Pokemon fans. I try to resist that urge wherever possible, and in those cases where hard-science is unavailable I try to present interesting and alternative perspectives on these characters based on the theoretical rather than the outright fantastic. This entire project is actually an art project started by Christopher Stoll a few months ago, with the goal to help children learn about anatomy and biology.

There are numerous typos, and several instances where the text in the paragraphs would contradict the text in the little statistics boxes. Stoll will be launching a Kickstarter for a book of his project in late October complete with the full set of his Pokémon anatomy art pieces. Today, another batch of illustrations by PokéNatomy went viral on imgur, bringing even more Pokemon anatomy to life. In my mind, both of them strike a good balance between the imaginary and the plausible, enhancing the Pokémon world while still emphasizing why people enjoy these creatures in the first place. To celebrate I'm releasing a new creature from this collection every day for the entire Month of February.

She also moderates “science of” panels at conventions and co-hosts Star Warsologies , a podcast about science and Star Wars. PokéNatomy is suitable for all ages, and designed to clarify and explain diverse scientific concepts like DNA, body systems, hereditary traits, and adaptation all through the wonder and weirdness of classic Pokémon characters!

Another artist, RJ Palmer, draws realistic Pokémon and even recently created new Pokémon based on evolution. This Kickstarter-Exclusive 8”x10” book is over 300 pages long and contains all of the original 150 Pokémon, with full page anatomical illustrations for each Pokémon as well as detailed descriptions of their biology, behavior, and abilities. Other interesting elements are how most dragon-like pokémon find buoyancy in the air (hydrogen reserves, which reminds me of The Flight of Dragons), the sentience of bacterial colonies, symbiotic relationships, pokémon becoming merged with armor technology, and even computer viruses become self aware.

I’ve always had a love of biology and the natural world, and much of Pokénatomy’s inspiration came from my previous work, the anatomical art-book bestiary A Natural History of the Fantastic. He shared with Inverse some of his art and why he was inspired to literally get inside the head of Pikachu. Inside you'll find a dynamic and interactive fantasy setting complete with over 120 original creature illustrations ready spring off the page and into your fantasy game. You’ll develop a deeper appreciation for these creatures as you uncover their hidden anatomical secrets.PokéNatomyis an unofficial anatomical art project, re-imagining Pokémon through the lens of modern biology. My 8 year old really enjoyed looking at it as well, and the whole family has had many interesting discussions, thanks to this book.

For anyone who has ever dreamed of peering beneath the surface of the Pokemon world, “Pokenatomy: The Unofficial Pokemon Anatomy Book” is a must-have addition to your collection. Now that we know how Poké Balls work, it may be hard not to consider these anatomical insights next time you’re playing Pokémon GO. So for the sake of the project, I’ve found myself thumbing through books on botany, herpetology, metaphysics, and even embryology. I also do fun giveaways twice a month on my Instagram, where you can get free posters, books, and signed illustrations just for following my work and liking a photo!

Galarian Rapidash is a form of Rapidash introduced in Pokemon Sword and Shield for the Nintendo Switch. Some make sense, and some don't but everything should be taken lightly anyway as this is not canon and absolutely fictional. I’ll have all three of my books for sale, along with tons of fan-art anatomy posters and other goodies! The images are incredible, showing off the wonderful science and nature of the original 151 Pokemon. Since 1996, Pokémon have been a part of our lives – pocket monsters that we could catch, train, and be best friends with.
