About this deal

Mais para a frente, conforme vão surgindo algumas revelações surpreendentes, a história ganha um novo ritmo, tornando-se de leitura compulsiva. Not much happens in the first half of the book and then SO MUCH happens in the last couple of chapters that it was somewhat jarring; and the end, while twisty, left me with unanswered questions. A clever and multi-layered dark thriller, My Other Husband is a gripping read that left me gasping in shock more than once. However, as she drafts her final ever episode her life turns upside down and people she knows start getting hurt and it soon becomes clear that someone is trying to frame her for murder and she thinks she knows why.

I did like some of the characters, especially Sidney, but felt that a good story became a little fantastical when all was said and done. The many time changes and the different points of view made this difficult to follow at times as I found myself flicking back a few pages to check when the previous chapter was set. The plot was unique and unpredictable, and the twist at the end which I completely did not see coming. There are lots of twists and turns in this book which keep you gripped right until the very last page. She falls for him and at first they are very happy together, but Heath isn't who he appears to be and his behaviour becomes out of control and his jealousy increases. This is the kind of mystery, though, where you want the main character to contact the police at multiple points, which she does not do, so the plot can plod along.

This was so close to being a five-star read for me but the only thing that made me drop half a star was because of how the story ended. The story has a dual timeline - Cleo wants a divorce in the present day from her husband she's clearly still in love with. Despite all of this, the pacing of the story did throw me off a bit as it didn't really hook me until a good half way through and because of this it made the big twists, turns and ending feel quite rushed. I have to admit the start of the book is confusing, you’re thinking how it’s going to play out but also what’s going to happen. DOROTHY KOOMSON is an award-winning, internationally bestselling author and journalist whose books have been translated into more than 30 languages, with sales that exceed 2 million copies in the UK alone. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Narrated by Cleo, over two different timelines of past and present, the pacing is fast and exciting - forever needing to know more information. It’s hard to say too much because I don’t want to spoil anything for anyone who might be thinking of reading it. And this (illness, mental state, obsession) played a huge part within this thriller that gripped my full attention.
