One of the things about crowdfunding you hear just generally from licensors is that they don’t like it because you’ve got the possibility of putting something out as an idea that then fails — and that failure reflects badly on the brand. The Case colour is wrong for this model, or the dial is wrong for this style case, either way they don’t belong on the same watch. The printing on the dial is the wrong size, and a little fuzzy and faded close up. The seconds hand is too big for its scale, and the hands are the wrong colour, they should match the case. I think I would strongly advise anybody who has a dispute to pursue it. Most people are in a situation where they were paying monthly, and they only got charged when the thing shipped. UPDATE December 28, 2022: I spoke with Fanhome and should receive information to share on this development in the new year.Personally I have no problem waiting as long as it takes, I would just like to know if I will be able to finish my build at some point. I had the Eaglemoss Japanese pilot watch before I found a rare G.Gerlach Tokkotai remake, and later I was proud to create a modernised variant as the one of the 3 styles of the Chinese Mechanical watch subforum 2016 project watch. We got noticed by the moderators, who had trouble even viewing what was now well over 25,000 posts. They decided to relaunch us as a version 2 of ourselves, and keep an eye on us. a close eye. Posts started to be removed for being off topic, and we got bullied out of our little home. ROBINSON: I think it’s somewhere in between. It’s going to be a bit of both. I think there is clearly value for somebody in continuing to make our XL versions of the Enterprises and Voy ager available. If you like the idea of modifying watches, using the Eaglemoss collection can be a cheap way of taking your first steps into the practice, most of the movements are identical so hands can be swapped around though I warn you this is not simple and requires some basic watchmakers tools and a very steady hand.
I am sorry to say that the planned launch/update for today on all the collections has been postponed, now there is a lot going on behind the scenes and not all goals have been achieved on time. Which is super frustrating!!! When I can provide a further update I will but for now please bear with us, we want to get this right from the start so a little more time is needed. Again, I’m not completely privy to everything and I haven’t seen all the numbers and all that, but the general impression that I get from the inside is they tried to grow too fast and that it’s toppled over. That’s not just related to the Star Trek stuff, or the science fiction ship stuff, it’s the whole business — they were very keen to make it grow very aggressively. Those people, obviously, sat there with, as you say, a 1/2 or 2/3 of a ship thinking, “Well, I’m never going to be able to finish this…” My message to them is I think you may well be able to finish it. I can’t make any promises, but don’t assume the worst. I dunno what the thing is with the long stem, I suspect the original it alludes to maybe had a flexible stem, it attracted quite a lot of attention with my friends I saw out and about today and was the first time I hadn't worn my Amphibia since I got it lol
The interesting thing about Eaglemoss is that a lot of the bits of the business were still functional and are still attractive to somebody else, I think. We are still in the process of trying to see who that somebody else might be — there’s a lot of legal messes to be tidied up from the Eaglemoss side of things first, though. These links are specifically for ex-Eaglemoss customers to get early access to the parts needed to finish our models. I too believe that in those countries it should be possible to resume the construction, but that is the answer I have never been given.
Fanhome cannot replace any damaged/missing issues from Eaglemoss. We would need to start our subscription at that issue. When it comes to the really deep-dive stuff, I think it might be that we have to develop some system where people express their interest before we move forward with making it. I don’t want anyone to be in a position of having to put money down, but show some commitment to those models. I’m very sorry that there hasn’t been better communication from Eaglemoss. It wasn’t my choice — I’m afraid that all of us were told that we could not communicate with people. While I was on the staff, I had no choice. As soon as I was made redundant, I literally was like, “I’ve been made redundant. Now I can finally something!”
