About this deal

This Book/Series/Universe is a "must read" to anyone who loves myths, Regardless of Age. {for proof: I read it first whe

Behind me, Nancy Bobofit mumbled to a friend, "Like we're going to use this in real life. Like it's going to say on our job applications, 'Please explain why Kronos ate his kids.'" If you're reading this because you think you might be one, my advice is: close this book right now. Believe whatever lie your mom or dad told you about your birth, and try to lead a normal life. I'm twelve years old. Until a few months ago, I was a boarding student at YancyAcademy, a private school for troubled kids in upstate New York.I looked at the carving, and felt a flush of relief, because I actually recognized it. "That's Kronos eating his kids, right?" I mumbled something about trying harder, while Mr. Brunner took one long sad look at the stele, like he'd been at this girl's funeral. Percy is granted a quest to find Zeus' Master Bolt, which Chiron believes Hades has stolen. However, Zeus discovers Poseidon's broken oath and believes Percy stole the bolt. Percy has ten days before the Summer Solstice to find the symbol of power of the king of gods, and he is given magic shoes as a "gift" from Luke before leaving. However, Chiron tells him that it is a bad idea to use the shoes since Zeus might blast him out of the sky, so he gives them to Grover. Chiron hands over a pen to Percy, informing him that it is a gift from his father. When uncapped, a sword, called Riptide or Anaklusmos, appears. Percy, accompanied by Annabeth and Grover, travels to western Long Island, leading them closer to the Underworld in Los Angeles. for all you greek god lovers out there, you will love this book. it is a book of friendship and betrayal. it is an amazing book! This Book/Series/Universe is a "must read" to anyone who loves myths, Regardless of Age. {for proof: I read it first when I was 22 & fell in love immediately by the first sentences! (which was the chapter's title!)} though it probably depends on you have active inner child & love mythology in modern days with lots of fun or not too. (my dad liked it too.)

Retrieved February 15, 2010.I could start at any point in my short miserable life to prove it, but things really started going bad last May, when our sixth-grade class took a field trip to Manhattan— twenty-eight mental-case kids and two teachers on a yellow school bus, heading to the Metropolitan Museum of Art to look at ancient Greek and Roman stuff. At Half Blood Hill, a summer camp dedicated to training demigods, Percy learns that his fate is to undertake a dangerous quest across the United States to retrieve Zeus' stolen lightning bolt and avert a War of the Gods. Mrs Dodds scared Grover to death. Amazing book loved it so much I’d great for all ages and the rest of the series is awesome as well. Percy is amazing. Annabeth is so dam cool. And Grover and his tin cans will triumph. Soooo basically I love love loved this book as it is the beginning of a beautiful adventure. Read this book ;)

a b Oksner, Robert (May 21, 2006). "The Lightning Thief Review". Kidsreads. Archived from the original on September 4, 2009 . Retrieved September 1, 2009. I've read all (I think) of this series to my daughter, Celyn, but somehow this one escaped being reviewed until now. The class drifted off, the girls holding their stomachs, the guys pushing each other around and acting like doofuses. The class gathered on the front steps of the museum, where we could watch the foot traffic along Fifth Avenue. Simplemente amé a Percy, Annabeth, Grover y Sally. ¡Odié tanto a Gabe!

One time, after she'd made me erase answers out of old math workbooks until midnight, I told Grover I didn't think Mrs. Dodds was human. He looked at me, real serious, and said, "You're absolutely right."

I'm slightly ashamed to say that I watched the movie before I read the book. But I'm even more ashamed that I watched the movie only to experience the hotness that is Logan Lerman. And Grover? Well, I guess I liked Grover as well! His habit to eat tin cans was a little unsettling but hey, I’m not going to judge him for his rather questionable diet. XD After all his heart is in the right place and when it comes down to it, this is everything that counts! ;-P I just hope he’ll survive his personal quest and I can’t help but wonder if we’re going to see him in one of the next books! But I wanted to feel so much more because those moments right there demanded my emotions and feelings. But no. The author had to zip it and rush on to the next scene 😭 On one part of their journey, Percy and his friends fight the Furies, which causes the bus they are on to explode. After escaping into nearby woods, they come across a shop filled with many life-size statues. They meet Aunty Em, who Annabeth later identifies as Medusa. Percy defeats Medusa and sends her head to Olympus to show that he’s not a pawn in the gods’ game. Annabeth, Percy, and Grover take a train to Denver but stop at an Arch during a layover where Percy encounters the monsters Echidna and Chimera. He jumps off the Arch into the river to avoid dying and is met by a spirit who tells him to go to Santa Monica before going to the Underworld.
