About this deal

This was a book that I had to force myself to put down, to step away, to take a breath. It hit me so hard, it was devastating in the best of ways. I was so good that I had to put it down.

But although those scenes definitely distressing to read, I found it somewhat refreshing to see some darker, gritty scenes and having a YA book pushing the boundaries. But again, I do want to put a trigger warning on it, as it's not something I expected and I can see it potentially being upsetting to some readers. Cecelia Ahern (n. 1981) escreve uma distopia brilhante, contando uma história completamente verossímil, envolvendo magistralmente o leitor em cada cena e incorporando factos e acontecimentos críveis e totalmente plausíveis. In the midst of it all, she hears rumblings of a possible underground movement aiming to overthrow the ruling party. But anyway, does that make sense to anyone? How freaking impossible to enforce that? Who would even want to live in a world like that? Sinning and making mistakes is fun, guys! And we have never, ever, EVER been able to hold our governmental leaders responsible for their idiocy, and I don't think we can in another version of the future. This book's premise is just silly. Cecelia Ahern, the international best-selling author, pens her new YA book, Flawed which marks as the first book in the new YA dystopian series by the same name. Now the regular Ahern fans might have mixed feelings about this book, where the regular YA dystopian lovers might just love this book. The book unfolds the story of a high school teenager who is perfect in every possible way, but soon her perfection is challenged between right logic and wrong rules and little did miss perfect knew that her dreams would get shattered with her gesture of humanity. Her second book, Where Rainbows End (U.S. Love, Rosie), also reached number 1 in Ireland and the UK, and won the German CORINE Award in 2005. [9] It was adapted as a motion picture titled Love, Rosie which was released in 2014, directed by Christian Ditter and starring Lily Collins and Sam Claflin. When you see something, it can’t be unseen. When you hear a sound, it can never be unheard. I know, deep down, that this evening I have learned something that can never be unlearned. And the part of my world that is altered will never be the same.” This is an interesting dystopian setting where any “flaw” in behavior gets you permanently branded and cast out in society, a la the “A” in “The Scarlet Letter.” Celestine starts out dating the son of one of the behavioral judges, but after she helps an elderly man on a bus who happens to be “flawed” she is cast out as well. Very engaging writing and excellent pacing.

The author's writing is excellent and flawless, unlike the title of the book! The narrative is enchanting that kept me glued to the heart of the story. The scenes are written with lots of description and it feels like the scenes are unrolling right in front of my eyes and the POV of Celestine put me into her shoes that let me peek inside her perfect mind. The pacing is really fast as the story is paced with thrilling events and complicated challenges. Cecelia studied Journalism and Media Communications from the Dublin University before embarking her writing career. In the year 2000, she was a part of a pop group called Shimma which was ranked 3rdin Irish National Final for the Euro-vision song contest. From a pop band member to a journalist and finally becoming a best-selling author Cecilia has done wonders in her life. Her book The Gift was published just before Christmas 2008 in the UK. [9] Her following book, The Book of Tomorrow, was published on 1 October 2009. In 2016, Cecelia released Flawed, her first book for young adults, and Lyrebird. Even when she does step in to save the old man, it is partly out of kindness but also because what’s happening simply isn’t logical - it doesn’t fit in with her mathematical, direct view of the world. “I like solutions,” Celestine says. “The problem was disturbing me and fixing it just made sense.” I've learned that people aren't cruel. Most people aren't, anyway,... but people are strong on self-preservation. And if something doesn't directly affect them, they don't get involved."

The Guild- people's body, has only one rule, you will be branded as "FLAWED", if you make ethical or moral mistakes in the society. MyHome.ie (Opens in new window) • Top 1000 • The Gloss (Opens in new window) • Recruit Ireland (Opens in new window) • Irish Times Training (Opens in new window) We see being Flawed as a strength. If you make a mistake, you learn from it. If you never make a mistake, you're never the wiser.” In this stunning novel, bestselling author Cecelia Ahern depicts a society in which perfection is paramount and mistakes are punished. And where one young woman decides to take a stand that could cost her everything. Celestine North lives in a society that demands perfection, and she lives a perfect life. She’s a model daughter and sister, she’s well-liked by her classmates and teachers, and she’s dating the impossibly charming Art Crevan. This had one of the most brutal dystopian settings I have ever read. Can you imagine a world where you are punished for making the first ever mistake? And not just for a duration, but your entire life. This Celestine North's life. Being perfect and flawless..This is what she has become. Obviously we know this can't last long, she ends up making a mistake in public for all the world to witness and the consequences are fast and fierce. But other plans are forced into play and she ends up being set as an example. Will she be able to overcome these challenges or will it ultimately kill her? See how easy it may be to cross from Perfection to Flawedness. See how incidious the ideas of perfection can be. See how dangerous perfectionism is. A scapegoat for society and now a scapegoat for everyone else who knows me. All their problems are all my fault. Nothing to do with their own decisions, their own mistakes, their own doing. Sheep. Celestine North lives in such a society, she adheres to, understands and agrees with the rules. She is a poster girl for all that is right with this regime, but then, one day, she slips bringing down on her the weight of The Guild. She has always taken comfort in the rules, believed they kept her and everyone else safe, but now .... things are different. The ending made up for most of the book but I also felt the story kind of went nowhere. I'm unsure as to where or not I will continue.
