Shane Reynolds, Ceramic Artist and 2013 University of South Alabama graduate
The Universityof South Alabama Baldwin County will show the art of ShaneReynolds, a ceramic artist from Mobile, Alabama and a 2013 graduate of theUniversity of South Alabama. The event will takeplace on Friday, February 7, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in theAdministration Building of the USA Baldwin County Campus, 10 North SummitStreet, Fairhope, AL. The show will alsofeature the music of Bryant Gilley, acoustic guitarist from Mobile.
"I first put my hands on clay in the 6th grade, and have casually kept workwith many types of art since," Reynolds said.However, it wasn't until he began studying for his BFA in ceramics in2008 that he says he seriously began working on an art career. Reynoldsgraduated high school in 2004, from Station Camp High School in GallatinTennessee, after attending Baker High School in Mobile, Alabama for hisfreshman and sophomore years. He then completed his education from his hometownuniversity, the University of South Alabama, in the spring of 2013. Reynolds is currently teaching ceramic classes atthe Eastern Shore Art Center.
Reynolds latest sculptural work is an attempt todepict the human experience in form and color. "I wish for viewers to study theuniqueness of each piece and how that relates to the notion that we as humansare all very different" Reynolds said. Reynolds added his work is presently represented by The Robertson Gallery, inthe OakleighGarden District of Historic Midtown Mobile.
