The Genius 8000 launched as a cut-down, value version of the original Genius 9000 brush, and it still feels like a high-end toothbrush despite its price. It also gives an excellent clean, with a choice of six brush modes and three brush heads – CrossAction, 3D White and Sensitive – to cover a wide range of dental needs. Its Lithium-Ion battery still needs charging overnight but will last for over an hour of brushing from there on in, which should cover you for a couple of weeks. From a young age, you have likely been encouraged to brush your teeth twice a day for 2 minutes. If you haven’t then you need to think about doing this, and the Smart 6 6000 can help you. The Oral-B range all use the 3D oscillating and rotating movement which claims to remove up to 100% more plaque vs a manual toothbrush. Personally I think this could be exaggerating slightly however there is definitely evidence that electric toothbrushes do clean better than manual toothbrushes. The figure though is closer to 21% over a 3 month period. This is definitely an improvement so would still recommend getting an electric toothbrush with 3D oscillating rotating motion. Versions of the Oral-B Smart 6 6000 electric toothbrush The Oral-B Smart 6 6000 comes with 5 cleaning modes which is the same number as the more expensive Oral-B Genius 8000. It comes with daily clean, sensitive, gum care, pro-clean and whitening. I would recommend putting the brush in daily clean mode for most people because it is the best regular use brushing action and lasts for 2 minutes. The sensitive mode is good for people who have sensitive teeth and can be combined with using a sensitive brush head. Personally, I feel that Philips Sonicare offer the more premium looking and feeling products, the good news is the overall build quality and reliability of Oral-B products are very good. The product is sold at a mid-price with a charging station, travel case and three round brush heads to effectively remove up to 100% more dental plaque. The round brush heads are also said to promote healthier gums and remove stains, giving your teeth a whiter appearance from the first use on. Perfectly Timed BrushingThe crossaction brush head has 16 degree angulation of bristles which allow you to clean effectively around the gum margins. Also the brush head is small and round which allows the brush to access difficult teeth easily. It also has indicator bristles which give you an indication as to when the brush head needs changing. I would recommend changing your brush head every 3 months. Cleaning Modes Oral-B themselves say over 2 weeks, but it would seem (subject to usage) that you could be well on your way to 3 weeks. If I have a clean fresh feeling mouth, then I tend to find I feel better, more confident and motivated. No the Oral-B Smart 6 6000 is not particularly noisy for an electric toothbrush however this is subjective. If you have just moved from a manual toothbrush expect any electric toothbrush to be noisier. You will notice this less and less as you continue to use an electric toothbrush. Is it safe to use the Oral-B Smart 6 6000 on dental implants/bridges/restorations/crowns? I fear though, as good as the app is, unless you really invest time and effort into getting into the routine of using it, it’s all too easy to forget about. Other additions in the box include the brush charging stand.
Cleverly, the brush will too automatically reduce the head speed and stop the pulsation until the pressure is reduced.
The base of the brush is sealed but has a recess into which the prong on the charging stand fits to charge the brush. Given the company’s size, history and experience the battery life has generally been inferior to the competition, with many models only boasting a 7 day life. Yes it most certainly is. This means that it can be cleaned with water and also be used in the shower if you so wish. Is the Oral-B Smart 6 6000 noisy?
