After a former-Susquehanna Township High School assistant principal charged with having sexual contact with a female student waived his preliminary hearing Wednesday, PennLive took a look back at past reports.
Interviews, and a lawsuit filed by the alleged victim s mother show what might have occurred in the months after Shawn Sharkey began working nearly a year ago as assistant principal at the school district.
Those accounts appear to conflict or vary, at times.
Sharkey is facing charges of sexual contact with a student, corruption of minors and unlawful contact with a minor. His formal arraignment is set for 8:30 a.m. Feb. 14 at the Dauphin County courthouse.
District officials said the school district investigated what they have called rumors involving Sharkey and the student last spring and determined they were unfounded. They did not notify law enforcement at that time.
The Dauphin County district attorney's office continues to investigate whether school district officials violated mandatory reporting laws.
First Assistant District Attorney Fran Chardo one of the Dauphin County prosecutors handling the mandatory reporting investigation said the inquiry could wrap up soon.
The school district and the administrators have cooperated fully in the investigation, Chardo said in an email. We hope to complete the inquiry later this month.
